From Ibiza to the Norfolk Broads…

Hailing from the East Coast of Australia, Ground Control: The Music of David Bowie is the manifestation of bassist Holly Stratford’s desire to play live the songs she has loved all her life. Spurred by this spark, she reached out to musical pals Darren Smith (guitar) and Dan Murphy (singer and hairdo). Thus the musician’s telegraph went into overdrive and Matt Roberts (drums and vocals), Neil Taylor (Keys), Emma Kelly (saxophones) and CJ Smith (guitar, percussion) hunkered down to pull together the disparate, magnificent sounds of Bowie’s 50 year career.

Ground Control takes the classic recordings as the foundation of their sonic celebration, providing the canvas for singer Dan Murphy’s remarkable vocal likeness and muscular take on Bowie’s stage presentation. The combination places Ground Control at the peak of Bowie interpretations, all-live with no backing tracks.

The result? Those SONGS! From the 1960s Hunky Dory though the ’70s Ziggy Stardust and the Thin White Duke, into the ’80s Absolute Beginners and onwards, Ground Control delivers sets packed with the hits - and choice deep cuts - that made the memories you love: Space Oddity, Moonage Daydream, Let’s Dance, Rebel Rebel, Modern Love, Heroes, Queen Bitch, Golden Years, Fashion, Fame, Diamond Dogs, Life on Mars, Changes, Young Americans – and many more.
